Carl Daniel Architects (CDA), Incorporated was founded by Carl V. Daniel, Jr., AIA, in 1989 in Houston, Texas. Two major medical projects in El Paso, Texas, provided the impetus to relocate the firm to El Paso in 1990. Since its inception, the firm has completed over 400 million dollars in construction projects. Located at 305 Leon Street, El Paso, Texas, CDA provides Architectural and Engineering Services to clients within, and beyond the El Paso area. Carl Daniel serves as Principal and Lead Designer of the firm. Mr. Daniel holds Architecture licenses in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona and is a licensed Interior Designer in Texas. Hugo Saldaña, AIA joined the firm in the summer of 2007 as a Partner and Project Manager and brings with him years of design experience and construction administration with one of the El Paso School Districts. In January 2010 Steve Franco, AAIA merged his firm CFA Associates with CDA, bringing experience in the field of design and construction administration of commercial projects, 16 dedicated and motivated professionals, including 2 registered Architects and 10 Architectural Interns staff our office, with some member’s tenure extending back to the earliest days of the firm.
Historically, CDA has specialized in designs for healthcare, educational, commercial and municipal clients, including The City and El Paso County Hospital District (University Medical Center of El Paso) , The University of Texas at El Paso, and El Paso Community College, all of the El Paso School Districts, and all major Hospital groups. We have also undertaken numerous office renovation and remodeling projects of varied scope for El Paso Physicians and other business professionals. All CDA projects are designed in compliance with prevailing Codes and TAS Standards for Accessibility.
CDA, in joint venture as Downtown Architects, was a proud member of the design team for the El Paso Convention Center Modernization and Expansion, a complex project requiring both new and retrofit components. Independently, CDA has previously provided Expansion, Renovation and Modification designs and construction administration for numerous projects of varied scope for the Hospital District.
The University of Texas has been a repeat client for CDA, and the firm has provided design services for renovations to the Commons and Liberal Arts Buildings, and the phased renovation of Kelly Hall into a business complex. Our most visible design project for the University is the New Academic Services Building, a two-story building, dedicated to student enrollment and administrative services. CDA was also the design firm for the new Foster Stevens Basketball Practice Facility adjacent to the Don Haskins Center and part of a two firm architectural team for the five-story school of Nursing/College of Health Sciences.
